Our sister company got mobilization orders this week, but they’re understaffed, so my company is helping fill their slots. I’m on the list, which means that this weekend I’ll be sifting through every slice of brown underwear and sock and rucksack that the Army has given me to make sure I’m ready for deployment…if it happens.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m going anywhere – it’s just a preliminary step so that if we do get activated, we’re ready to go as soon as possible.
Everyone’s concerned, and I appreciate it, but I have a feeling that no one seems to understand. I want to go somewhere. Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Korea…it’s totally impossible to explain, but it seems like the right time for such an adventure.
