Your blog is wonderful. My husband, a submariner in the Navy, may be deploying to Iraq next Spring as a courier. I guess that’s what they do now with the remaining contract of Officers who don’t want to make a career out of it. What can he do? He already signed the contract. *sigh* But I digress. I found your blog when I was trying to see what life is like over there in case he goes, and it was so insightful, interesting and well written. You have a fantastic writing style and presence, something you should really consider developing further. Your talent is impressive, and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience with the rest of us, and for doing it in such an excellent and gripping way.

Best wishes to you now that you’re back home. Enjoy getting to know your wife!

Thank you for your blog and welcome home at last. I followed your blog faithfully and am so grateful I found it. My son was in Iraq with the 101st CAV out of NY. The two of you arrived in Kuwait and Baghdad at the same time. When my son would e-mail that he was OK and would write more later, I could check your blog and have some sense of what life was like for him at Camp Liberty. I almost felt that I should be welcoming you home, but thankfully we drove from Chicago to Fort Dix, NJ and were able to greet my son shortly after he arrived there about the same time you arrived back. I see I wasn’t the only Mom that got news from you. The pictures and stories you wrote were wonderful. Thank you so much. Now my son can finally get back to the life he left and so can you. I’m looking forward to the day all our troops can be home again.

I have never written before, but I was a very serious fan of your Blog!!
I want to tell you from a mother’s point of view. Thank you for writing your journel. I read your stories every day and printed many photos!!!
I have a whole wall full of your photos. This is how I felt better.. ( by seeing photos of the trailers the flood ,swimming pool, chow hall etc )I have it on my wall!! You made my life a little easier. I must admit I was bummed if it was a few days and know new news…
